Travel theme: Cosy

Happy Autumn Equinox to all you Northern Hemisphere dwellers. I spent the first evening of fall celebrating the Danish art of ‘Hygge’ by snuggling with my dog and sipping cocoa by candlelight in front of a campfire. Did I mention the fairy lights I decorated with for good measure and the generous splash of Baileys I added to my cocoa? It doesn’t get any cozier than that. But here are a few equally cosy (or cozy if you prefer) photos from my travels, starting off with a welcome cup of coffee to chase away the rainy day blues at the renowned and ancient Caffè Greco in Rome.

When there’s a chill in the air, there’s nothing cosier than staring out the window at the holiday lights, especially if you’re a bear who lives on Candy Cane Lane.

There’s something terribly olde worlde charming and cosy about lanterns like this one at Yale University.

It doesn’t get much cosier than a good old Irish pub when it’s cold outside.

A canopy of autumn leaves always makes my spirits soar…

…and snuggling up in bed is pretty amazing too…

…but top of my list for instant cosiness is a good old log fire, spitting and crackling and throwing out licks of flame into the darkness.

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

oh that snuggling up in bed is just too sweet! ❤

  2. This time of year I’d normally love “cozy”, but we’re having unseasonably hot weather (90’s F) and our AC is out. I’m more than cozy now. 🙂
