It seems like everywhere I’ve gone this weekend there has been snooker on the television, so I have escaped the click of the cue ball to find some related travel shots instead, starting off with balls of hand-dyed wool, Viking-style, from the Brian Boru Festival in Killaloe.
A snazzy mirror ball water feature at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Big shiny Christmas balls. Or baubles. On the giant Christmas tree at Westlake Center in Seattle.
But of course, New York has to do everything bigger.
A very Irish scarecrow celebrating the nation’s favourite game.
A sculpture for the festival of Beltaine on the Hill of Uisneach.
If you’re not too busy watching snooker, and would like to join in this week’s travel theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Balls
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Watch out for the next travel theme which will come out next weekend

It’s a lot more fun progressing than looking back. That’s why I need to throw curve balls. – David Bowie
It’s good sportsmanship to not pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling. – Mark Twain
You’ve really got to have a set of big ones to show Christmas decorations this time of the year!! I’m diving for cover as I shudder… no, not in anticipation! 😉
Haha, I was waiting for your reaction, Vossie, you didn’t disappoint. 😉
Oh good golly gosh… am I so predictable?? 😛
I hesitate to say that apparently New York has bigger balls than anywhere else, but… 🙂

Haha, excellent, Janet, and true too! 🙂
Just saw your post, fabulous shot, and that Pink Panther quote cracked me up. 🙂
We laugh every time we hear it. There are so many quotable moments in those movies.

Ahhh … Christmas in May. Spring is alive with balls.
I enjoyed viewing your photographs. They are all spectacular but the mirror ball waterfall is really unusual. It’s just like Vegas to have something spectacular for the holidays. Hope you enjoy my selections…
