To celebrate Earth Day, a travel theme dedicated to this beautiful planet we share, using some of my favourite quotes coupled with some photos I’ve taken on my travels.
Earth laughs in flowers. – Ralph Waldo Emerson (photo of wildflowers along the Devil’s Elbow trail at Mount St. Helens in Washington)
In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. — Margaret Atwood (photo of stylish wellies at the Sheep Olympics in Gorey, Ireland)
Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty. – John Ruskin (photo of blood red sunset over the sea in Curracloe, Ireland)
Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet, and the winds long to play with your hair. – Kahlil Gibran (photo of a seashell-strewn beach in the Far Rockaways, New York)
Earth is here so kind, that just tickle her with a hoe and she laughs with a harvest. – Douglas William Jerrold (photo from a journey across the US on the Empire Builder)
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. – Albert Einstein (photo of a barely-there leaf, autumn at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Reserve in New York)
Trees are the Earth’s endless effort to speak to the listening heaven. – Rabindranath Tagore (photo from the Hall of Mosses in the Hoh Rainforest, Olympic Peninsula)

The earth sustains us… maybe it’s time we cared more for it! Great photos! 😉
Some great choices, Ailsa!

Fabulous, Ailsa! It’s tulip time here in the UK (albeit damp tulips this morning 🙂 ). I love that Khan guy! He never got it wrong. Happy Saturday!

Interesting. I thought this was your response to the Photo Challenge, which is the same. 🙂 Your shots are beautiful and since I, like others, already have an “Earth” post, if it isn’t cheating, I’ll include the link:

Always enjoy your posts, Ailsa! (Even if I don’t take time to reply from within your website). These photos and the quotes you chose were particularly beautiful. I seldom check this email as it gets flooded with junk mail. Better to use my newer one from Apple…JM.Everson@me.com.
I retired at the end of 2016. Yay! It’s still a work in progress, but I am so enjoying the luxury of having time for good stuff…hope to do more traveling…maybe even to Ireland! ..and of course I’m saving my pennies for a visit to my ancestors’ homes in Norway. Trusting that all’s well in your world! Miss your smiles!
