With a hat tip to International Women’s Day this past week, here are some woman-centric photos from my travels, starting off with a sculpture of the Irish Goddess Eriu on the Hill of Uisneach.
A visitor to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in a field of blooms.
Washing clothes in the waters of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
Generations of beautiful women celebrating Holi in vivid colours.
A certain winged lady at a vintage car show in Powerscourt.
A moment of Zen in front of the dancing waters outside Lincoln Center.
If you would like to join in and celebrate womankind with your own interpretation of this week’s theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Woman
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Watch out for the next travel theme which will come out next weekend
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

One is not born a woman, but becomes one. – Simone de Beauvoir
As a woman I have no country. As a woman my country is the whole world. – Virginia Woolf
There is in every true woman’s heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity. – Washington Irving
Mmmm… a dangerous topic. Maybe I should just shut-up and go away. You know the old story… can’t live with them… can’t live without them! 😈
Vossie you old devil, you know you just can’t live without your GLW. ❤
Old? Me??? You’re a bad young girl for calling me old!! 😉
