Travel theme: Leaves

The New Year is upon us and all around the world people are resolving to turn over a new leaf. As for me, I’m going to content myself with a few leafy photos instead, starting with this raindrop-bejewelled fern at the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island.

More raindrop-soaked leaves, this time nature starting to reclaim the lava-scorched slopes of Mount St Helens.

Artistic leaves on the Witness Trees in Seattle’s Ballard neighbourhood.

Exotic leaves peeping over a wall in Antigua, Guatemala.

Different leaves, but they come from trees too! This is an original Audubon Birds of America on display at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library in Yale.

And now I shall take my leave (see what I did there?) and hand over to you for your interpretation of this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:

  • Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Leaves
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
  • Watch out for the next travel theme which will come out next weekend
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

Wishing you a very happy 2017.

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

Skilfully done! 🙂 Love the leaf analogy! 5 years or more, Ailsa, and you still keep producing great quality. Doing my best to dance lightly, though I am a bit heavy footed 🙂 Wishing you joy in 2017!

I love leaves. I needed to fix up my space, and unconsciously, I chose all items with leaves; even my light fixture. But, my carpet, my chairs, my fireplace screen.
