I don’t take too many photos where the subject is dead centre, but occasionally, it works, like this one of the calyx of a startlingly white poppy in West Seattle.
But as I said, I don’t take many shots like that, so here are a few variations on the ‘centre’ theme. Still in Seattle, this time in the Fremont neighbourhood, the signpost marking the so-called ‘Center of the Universe’.
Switching coasts to NYC, the fountain at the centre of Columbus Circle.
Another Big Apple fountain, this time the one outside of Lincoln Center; the perfect spot to laze and people watch on a hot summer evening.
Last one, a lonely yellow tulip in a field of red, at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center. – Kurt Vonnegut
In less than a hundred years, we have found a new way to think of ourselves. From sitting at the centre of the universe, we now find ourselves orbiting an average-sized sun, which is just one of millions of stars in our own Milky Way galaxy. – Stephen Hawking
At the centre of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want. – Lao Tzu

Nice pictures and love the descriptions. It’s unique how there is one tulip in the many.

Once again, your travel theme was very timely for me. Here’s a little bit of Paris, and a memorial to my grandmother. https://worldandtimeenough.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/travel-theme-centre/

That fountain at the Lincoln Center photo is great. The people look like cardboard cutouts against the water.
