After my twirl around Seattle’s giant, glowing, singing flowers, I am looking at a few other illuminated sights I’ve spotted on my travels. First up, the amazing illuminated Multiverse walkway at the National Gallery of Art in DC.
Here’s a bike taxi reflected in a pool of rainwater against the neon illuminations of New York’s Times Square.
Then there is the Chihuly glass flower ceiling at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the epicentre of illumination.
Now it’s over to you to shed a little light on this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Illuminated
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday

Clever people master life; the wise illuminate it and create fresh difficulties. – Emil Nolde
There are two kinds of light — the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures. – James Thurber
Wow! Loved this post. Thanks.
Yaay, glad you enjoyed it Ann! 🙂
Love the pictures. The first one immediately reminded me of a tunnel in the Detroit airport that has ever-changing lights and music. Would be perfect for this challenge . . . if I had only taken that picture! Here’s to another good challenge!
Ooh, that tunnel sounds cool, Rusha, I wonder if it’s still there. Poor Detroit has seen some hard times recently.
You can’t tell from looking at the airport that Detroit has fallen on hard times. It’s really quite pretty. And, yes, the tunnel from one terminal to another is still there and still glorious!
Good to know, I shall try to fly through Detroit just as soon as I can. Thanks for the tip, Rusha! 🙂
That’s exactly the picture I am going to post!!!!!!
Wow! Amazing view!
Thanks nenskei, I’ve been lucky enough to see some amazing things on my travels. 🙂
LOVE your pictures. Will DEFINITELY be posting later. 🙂
Hurrah, looking forward to your illuminations! 🙂
Beautiful! I love the first image! 🙂
Oh Erin, that walkway was stunning, I went back and forth over and over like a little kid, watching all the different light patterns.

Love that first photo of the National Gallery of Art. As another commentor mentioned that it reminded her of the Detriot airport, the first thing I thought of was the illuminated walkway at O’hare in Chicago!
I visited the National Gallery of art almost every weekend while I was in college.
That walkway is amazing. I wonder how many people have missed their plane by not being able to leave the tunnel.
Oops. I got confused with Rusha Sams’ comment. But I do love that shot.
