There are so many wonderful things to experience in this world and never enough time to do them all. The week has slipped away from me and I find myself ridiculously short on time, so I’m dedicating this week’s theme to all things short. First up, an unusual take on the shortest of garden ornaments. I spotted these two mural gnomes skulking behind some bluebells in Seattle.
At some point I will run out of photographs of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, but in the meantime, how can I resist sharing this photo?
My eye was caught by some squat little gulls out on Long Beach, New York and I spent a silly amount of time giggling at their antics. They looked so awkward and out of proportion I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
Last but not least, perhaps my favourite of all, Winnie-the-Pooh‘s best friend Piglet, hanging out with his friends in the Stephen Schwarzman Library in New York, standing ever so tall at a little under four inches in height!
I’m going to stop short and hand over to you for your interpretation of this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Short
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS – I’m in the process of changing over to a new website host but will give you all a heads up when the changeover happens.

Oh, I just adore that sweet old Teddy. He looks just like one my sister used to have. The tulip field with the children is such a stunning pic, Ailsa.
I’m following you afresh from my new blog, as I decided to start again after picking up a couple of trolls along the way. 🙂 http://anotherday2paradise.wordpress.com/
Oh no, terrible trolls, but glad I’ve got your new blog bookmarked now! xxx
Nice topic, Ailsa! See the photo that almost got me arrested in Turkey. It shows “short” in a more symbolic manner, like the time one has before police show up at your old apartment to arrest you for publishing a photo of Ataturk next to their current Islamist dictator. The banners in the background seem short behind the flagpoles like prison bars. Turkey has more journalists in prison than any other country, and I left it just in time.
