Seeing as I’ve just written about crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on my road trip, I thought I’d have a look at some other bridges I’ve encountered on my travels. From my hometown, here is Dublin‘s Beckett Bridge.
Just north of New York City on the Hudson Line is the legendary Sleepy Hollow, home to spooky graveyards and the Headless Horseman Bridge.
A rosy sunset over a bridge along Philadephia‘s Schuylkill River, on the way to 30th Street Station.
Are you ready to cross the bridge when you come to it? If you would like to join in the travel theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Bridges
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.
Looking forward to your post – remember, a bridge too far might just be worth the effort.

[ Smiles ] You have a very beautiful collection of photos!
Thanks Renard (smiles back!)
Good theme Ailsa – need to work on this one!
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Tina!
You’ve got to believe me!! I’ve been meaning to do a Dublin Liffey Bridges post for a few weeks now… I’ve eventually managed to cross every one from Heuston Station to the East Link Lifting Bridge… let me see if I can get a gallery done in time… otherwise, your top picture may well be a good one for me to do a copy cat of!! I took a few similar ones not too long ago…
Wow, aj, you must have been zigzagging the Liffey forever, there are so many bridges across it now. Looking forward to that gallery for sure! xxx

A wonderful theme, Ailsa – I got carried away a bit 🙂 http://esengasvoice.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/travel-theme-bridges/
Oh Ese, what a fabulous post with bridges from all over, the Firenze shot is glorious. And that Isaac Newton quote is still so true today!
Thank you, Ailsa!
Yes, the good old Mr.Newton got it right alreacy back then. 🙂

The sunset bridge is a great photo, and love the Golden Gate Bridge a personal favorite with it’s majestic structure across the bay…so glad it’s your theme this week. My post on bridges: http://canoecommunications.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/a-bridge-forward/
Lovely shots, c & c, that wooden bridge is fantastic, and I love the quotes. What a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, was it taken from the Presidio? xxx
I took the photo on a boat ride around the bay that ended at sunset.
How wonderful! 🙂

Thanks John.

That first photo, not an easy shot to get at night–well done.
Here are my architecturally sound water crossings: http://loganbruin.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/travel-theme-bridges/
Thanks Logan – for the compliment about the top shot and also for not posting a photo of Jeff Bridges, hah hah. Wonderful series of photos, that Moon Bridge is so beautiful, but my favourite photo is the last one, with just the merest suggestion of bridge. It’s really lovely. xxx
Did not know you were from Dublin. I just posted about my last trip there. .. on a March 17th, accidentally. ;o)
Now isn’t that a coincidence, being in Dublin on St Patrick’s Day – hope you didn’t get into too much trouble. On second thoughts, too late, never mind, I just read your post, hee hee.
Beautiful, Ailsa. Here’s one by a mom with bipolar. http://brokenlightcollective.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/moving-forward/
Aww, look at that little boo. Lovely shot, I’ve walked along that stretch of shore before! xxx

Hi everybody my friends
Here my entries
http://wp.me/pjXOq-1mZ
Oooh, Max, Venice is the ultimate city of bridges, gorgeous. How was it crossing Carrick-a-Rede? I’ve never done it, meant to go last time I was home but didn’t make it. It’s supposed to be a pretty hair-raising experience, especially if it’s windy!
Yessss !
Really hair-raising ! 😀
and also vertiginous…
Squee, I’m excited and scared at the same time. Definitely doing it next time I’m back. 🙂
Beckett Bridge looks awesome! im afraid all i got is just more golden gate photos lol

You can never have too many photos of the Golden Gate Bridge, kz, and you got some wonderful shots. My favourite is the fifth one, that shows it curving off across the bay. 🙂

More Golden Gate, I love it, especially the silhouette of the boat in the foreground. Lovely. Allan. xxx
Wow! The first one is spectacular. Great theme:-)
It’s a pretty sexy bridge as bridges go, one of my favourite recent additions to the Dublin landscape. I’m kind of biased though, because it commemorates Beckett who is one of my favourite playwrights too. 🙂
That is THE best shot I’ve seen of that Dublin bridge. Lurvv bridges! Must get my act together.
Woohoo, thanks Jo, looking forward to your post! xxx
