I’m hiding out indoors because it’s just too darned hot for words. Even my dog laughs at me when I suggest walkies. As I sit inches from a fan trying to cool down, here are some heat-related travel photos I’ve found for this week’s theme, starting with some saucy and scarily spicy heat from the Halal Guys, my pick for Manhattan’s best street food.
Molten glass being crafted into something fabulous at Tacoma’s Museum of Glass.
Shadowy Guy Fawkes effigies glow in the firelight as they wait for their turn to burn in the bonfires at Golden Gardens on Bonfire Night.
Traditional devil burning fires in the streets of Antigua, Guatemala on December 7th aka La Quema del Diablo (The Burning of the Devil).
My favourite thing about camping.

Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience. – Henry David Thoreau
Nothing splendid was ever created in cold blood. Heat is required to forge anything. Every great accomplishment is the story of a flaming heart. – Arnold H. Glasow
