Valentine’s Day is coming up, which might be enough to set your heart a-flutter, but I’ve been looking at other ways of fluttering for this week’s travel theme. First up, a pretty little bird launching into flight in a New York park, its wings a fluttering blur.
Sticking with the wildlife theme, a most majestic flutterer, a giant yellow butterfly in Tikal National Park in Guatemala.
Kites fluttering in the skies above Seattle’s Kite Hill…
…and fluttering flags from three different countries marking the spot where their borders intersect.
I hope this week’s theme has you in a flutter to get started on your own interpretation. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Flutter
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!

We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it’s forever. – Carl Sagan
There is nothing holier in this life of ours than the first consciousness of love, the first fluttering of its silken wings. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
