Travel theme: Flutter

Valentine’s Day is coming up, which might be enough to set your heart a-flutter, but I’ve been looking at other ways of fluttering for this week’s travel theme. First up, a pretty little bird launching into flight in a New York park, its wings a fluttering blur.

Sticking with the wildlife theme, a most majestic flutterer, a giant yellow butterfly in Tikal National Park in Guatemala.

Kites fluttering in the skies above Seattle’s Kite Hill…

…and fluttering flags from three different countries marking the spot where their borders intersect.

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started.       Loved your post, that Cairns Birdwing is stunning, both male and female, I love the soft brown of the female against that pink flower. And Tommy’s face too, haha. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too. xxx

      Haha, drat your stubborn defiance 😉 So that top bird photo is a secret favourite of mine, it was completely unplanned, I only spotted the little guy right before it took off so just did a quick point and shoot, but I absolutely love the movement in it, and the light in its eye.
