Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.
And I’m just getting started.
If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue. Remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.
Hi Ailsa, you got a bumper – here goes –

Love your photos. The Berlin Wall piece is intriguing. Hope to link back shortly as I’m about to assemble a fall foliage piece for this year in Colorado. It has been beautiful in the mountains.
Hurrah, I’m glad you’re going to join in, can’t wait to see your post from Colorado, I bet it’s spectacular out there right now! xxx
Cannot BELIEVE I’ve been following your blog and never checked out your About page. Bad follower, bad follower!! I’m putting myself in time-out right now. Of course…I do have my coffee with me…does that still count as time-out??
To be completely Sirius…series…serious…..?? I do enjoy your blog so much – especially the travel theme challenges.
Haha, LubbyGirl, you just made me laugh so hard I nearly choked on my coffee. Good follower, good follower! 🙂
Whew!!! Can I come out of the corner now?? 🙂
Nice to meet you, Ailsa. Thanks for opening the window to your world.:)
Nice to meet you too, Sheila, looking forward to sharing blog stories!
just checked out your blog….brill fun 🙂
Hurray, thanks Natalie, hope you join in on the travel theme, it’s a great group of people who join in every week! xxx
The gulls in Cornwall are modern day pirates. I wonder if you lost the ice cream in Looe? That’s where my wife lost hers.
It was actually in St. Ives, so it would appear those Cornish gulls have a county-wide alliance! 🙂
Indeed, always walk with an ice cream close to the shop fronts – never walk in the open air with an ice cream held in front – they’ll get you!

I just found YOUR blog, which I know I am going to truly enjoy exploring further, once I get the time. Perhaps when I get back to India next week and have more time for just “fun” things. And yes, it IS a big world with so much beauty and love and blessings to see. All the best to you in your continued journeys. 🙂
I’m looking forward to exploring more of your adventures in India, Jane, it’s a country I’ve always wanted to visit, so until I do, I can live vicariously through you!

Excellent, Jo, looking forward to swapping travel stories! 🙂
Sounds good! 🙂
Hi! I enjoyed checking out your blog. All the best–Melanie
Thanks Melanie, very nice to meet you! 🙂
Hello, I really thought your tagline ‘romancing the planet’ was a brilliant way to describe a ‘travel blog’. Sounds like you manage to get out and about pretty well.
Yaay, glad to hear it, Boomdeeadda – great name by the way!
Hey thanks, I just happen to like a whole lot of stuff so it covers all the bases. 🙂
You have achieved a lot in one year, same time as I have been blogging, I like your site and that is why it is doing so well but out of interest what proportion of your blogging time is directed to producing the posts and what proprtion is directed to increasing the readership?
Hi poitoucharentesinphotos, as you can probably tell by the number of posts I’ve written over the last year, I focus entirely on writing and photography – and then responding to comments – that’s pretty time-consuming in and of itself. There’s a wonderful community of travel enthusiasts here on WordPress and we all visit each other’s sites regularly. You should get involved, it’s a lot of fun.
Hi Alisa – I enjoyed checking out your blog you have such wonderful photos of your travels – Steve
Thanks Steve, you have some amazing wildlife photos on your blog! xxx Ailsa
Hi ailsapm – You had a great blogs with lots of great pictures ^^
Thanks so much, MW! xxx
Cornish Seagulls aren’t to be trifled with. Enjoyed your US road trippin’ posts, nice work, Ailsa.
Thanks Andy, yes, those Cornish seagulls are tricky little fellows! Glad you enjoyed my US road trip stories, still working on them! 🙂
I hope to instill your sense of adventure and appreciation for this big wide world in my daughter! Beautiful blog, will be visiting often.
How wonderful, windycityvegan, thank you so much, and I wish your daughter many happy and wonderful adventures in her life! xxx
Your images are great and really capture the essence of your adventures. I can’t wait to see more.
Robyn
Thanks, Robyn. xxx Ailsa
Loved your photos!
Thanks so much, Donna. xxx Ailsa
Look forward to reading/seeing more of your adventures!
Thanks so much, Rocky – I can call you Rocky, right? 😉 Looks like you’re in a very beautiful part of the world.
Thanks for sharing your adventurers!
haha…already made me laugh. i look forward to reading more! Your writings remind me of why i live in a foreign country!
Haha, thanks perfectlyuncaged, anyone who has never lived in a foreign country is missing out!
Hi Ailsa,
Speaking of travel, this is also great passion of mine and there are indeed some wonderfull places on earth (which you also touched upon in your interesting blog!). However, I always like to make some promotion for Bosnia, as it is rather undiscovered beauty, but once discovered, people love it!
Take care
Hi ninichissimart, I’ve never been to Bosnia but I have heard it is indeed very beautiful. I hope someday to pay it a visit and when I do, I’ll be sure to bring along my camera!
Hi Ailsa,
You have an awesome blog and are a great story teller. I really like your style and will chack back soon.
Traveling is great and broadens people’s minds. Have fun on your next trips and keep sharing your adventures!
Take care
Thanks Stefano, nice to meet a fellow travel lover! 🙂
You have a fascinating blog! 🙂
Thanks so much, seniledenial, I’m glad you enjoyed my posts. 🙂
Alisa, the beauty of Kili is that it is “Every Man’s Everest”… no special mountain climbing skills required. I saw fit and unfit people make it to the top. I saw people as young as 16 and as old as 70 make it to the top. I think for most people it was the mental battle rather than the physical! Good luck if you do decide to give it a go!
Take care,
Kazzax
That’s actually good to know, Kazza – now adding it to my bucket list! 🙂
i love your blog! and love traveling too! you should travel to india, you’ll go mad!
I really want to see India, mitwa176, it’s somewhere I long to go. I hope I don’t go entirely mad though – maybe only slightly insane! 😉
Ailsa, I have been enjoying your blog and find you photo challenges interesting and my just participate in the future, my wife and I have enjoyed traveling for years and have a large resource of photos. As for now I have a lot that I want to get out about my new home here in Cusco and can only hope to have as much success as you have had. Keep it up and may all your travels be fulfilling.
Ooh, I would love you to join in some of the weekly challenges, Lyle, I love the photos on your blog and really enjoyed reading about Machu Picchu. I’ve never been but will get there someday!
Keep us in mind if you do.
Love your blog-you have such a great eye for photography! Especially your furry friend post. I am curious what you do for a living that allows you to travel so much-jealous! Thanks for visiting Compost and Cupcakes!
Hi justmadelinelee – I just take jobs in different countries – I find you get to know a place so much better when you live and work there rather than just zip around for a week or two!
You know, I usually shy away from such immensely popular blogs figuring on getting lost in the shuffle – but your photos and adventures look to be too cool to resist.
Here’s to your backpack!
Well thank you very much, Sid, I’m honoured you made an exception in my case 🙂 xxx Ailsa
Very interesting blog, congratulations! Safe travels, Ailsa!
You too! 🙂
Your photos are lovely and your travels sound amazing. Enjoy every minute. Regards, Karen
Thanks Karen, I’ve been having an awful lot of fun so far! 🙂
I can gtell – you ooze this love affair with the planet in your blog! 🙂
Haha, yes, I suppose I really do 😉
Your adventures sound amazing! I need to travel more, so hopefully will try and pick up some ideas from your blog 🙂
Yaay, I hope you get the chance to travel soon – and often! 🙂
I am heading to Paris in a few weeks so look forward to more European trips!
Good stuff! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures!
Hi Ailsa. You have some wonderful photos and articles here.
Thanks Morgan! 🙂
What a treasure trove. I plan to revisit on a regular basis. Keep posting.
Yaay, thanks, siskinbob! xxx
