The vernal equinox has arrived in the northern hemisphere, infusing the countryside with a flush of early blossom and a burst of fresh green growth. Here are a few travel shots that sprang to mind, starting off at the very beginning, with seeds, or in this case, seed heads, which make for gorgeous winter interest in New York’s High Line Park.
Tulips grow as far as the eye can see at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
Sugar cane growing by the roadside in Guatemala.
Growing microgreens on the windowsill to keep my green thumbs busy over winter.

Waiting for spring here in northern Illinois. Fortunately, I think our flowers have survived the hard frosts that came well after growth had started for many plants. I just noticed some daffodils along the side of the house today. Can’t wait until the light is good enough to take some shots!

We’ve had such a mild winter here, Janet, that plants have been completely confused. Magnolia, daffodils, snowdrops and primroses all blooming at the same time. It’s staying light a lot later now, each week that passes the day length increases dramatically so I’m really feeling full of the joys of spring. Hope it reaches your part of the planet soon. xxx
I love the longer days of spring as well as the flowers and sunshine. It will get here and be welcomed!
Growth is definitely in the air with the coming of spring!
I adore this time of year, the returning of the light.
Green thumbs and growing… I’ve just learned you have another talent! I should have guessed! 😉
You’ve found me out, Vossie, I am an unapologetic plantaholic, so as you can imagine, this time of year I’m all aflutter rushing about madly with seeds and seedlings. As far as I’m concerned you can never have too many flowers. Or lettuces. 🙂
