Travel theme: Indoors

It’s wild and stormy and I find myself stuck indoors for the day, so I decided to use the opportunity for this week’s travel theme. But how do you interpret indoors? It could be ‘indoors looking out’ like looking out through the window of Hook Head Lighthouse

hook lighthouse, hook peninsula, ireland, wexford, strongbow, haunted, monks, travel, travelogue, ailsa prideaux-mooney

…or standing outside looking at all the tasty treats on sale indoors in this Aachen bakery…

aachen, fasching, karneval, fastelovend, germany, travel, travelogue, carnival, ailsa prideaux-mooney

… or simply reveling in the glory of some spectacular indoor features, like the stunning floral glass Chihuly artwork on the ceiling of the Bellagio in Vegas

…and still looking up, at the extraordinary ceilings of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome

vatican city, st peter's basilica, rome, italy, travel, travelogue, ailsa prideaux-mooney

…or to scale it back a little, how about being indoors huddled around this stone hearth in a humble old blockhouse on Whidbey Island

whidbey island, seattle, washington, travel, travelogue, ailsa prideaux-mooney, photography

…or getting your druid on inside an ancient burial mound atop Witch Mountain in Ireland.

Actually, when you think about it, being stuck indoors can sometimes be pretty amazing, can’t it? Do you have an amazing indoors you would like to share for this week’s travel theme? If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome to join in!) here’s what to do:

  • Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Indoors
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
  • Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday (unless, of course, I get locked out again!)
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

  31. I like the Chihuly image and the old block house. We saw a Chihuly at the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis a few years ago; I have a similar capture here: https://atrivialmindatwork.com/2016/04/22/wpc-abstract-glass/
