I used “Circles” as a theme a few years ago, but figured its edgier brother “Square” would make for another interesting subject, so to start off this week’s travel theme, here is the brightest square I can think of, New York’s Times Square. Did you know it has a secret sound installation hidden right in its heart? You can see it in the photo if you know where to look…or you can read about it here. 🙂
Square pizza by the yard in Rome.
The illuminated waters of London’s Trafalgar Square at night.
Square and curved at the same time, the panes of glass that make up the stunning (and endangered) pergola in Seattle‘s Pioneer Square.
Are you ready to square up to this week’s travel theme? If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Square
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!
…and remember, it’s hip to be square.

The intelligence of that creature known as a crowd is the square root of the number of people in it. – Terry Pratchett
A round man cannot be expected to fit in a square hole right away. He must have time to modify his shape. – Mark Twain
Thought it was time to drop by…
Hope all is well!
