Travel theme: Luminous

I didn’t manage to find a firework display to marvel at this Bonfire Night so instead I have gone looking through my travel shots for images that glow and fizz and give off all the luminosity of a good old-fashioned fireworks display, starting with an actual fireworks display, New Year’s Eve at Seattle‘s Space Needle.

Staying in the Emerald City, here is the brilliant interactive art installation Sonic Bloom in Seattle Center.

Fire and water in gorgeous harmony at Eternal Flame Falls in upstate New York.

The ancient Irish loved their fire festivals – and the modern day Irish appear to love them just as much. This is the fire festival celebrating Beltane on the Hill of Uisneach.

Ahh sparklers – it wouldn’t be Hallowe’en or Bonfire Night without those fabulous fizzing bursts of light.

Another Irish Festival – the People’s Procession of Light leading in the New Year through the streets of Dublin.
