After last week’s slice of rural life at the Sheep Olympics, I thought I’d change things up a little with a very urban travel theme.
Graffiti on London‘s South Bank.
A rainy day on the Via Condotti in Rome.
Seattle by night from the top of the Space Needle.
Manhattan, in all her quirky loveliness…
…and again – I adore the Big Apple, there’s always something quite magical to photograph.
So join in this week’s travel theme and take me on a tour of your favourite concrete jungle. Here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Cities
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!

Every city has a sex and an age which have nothing to do with demography. Rome is feminine. So is Odessa. London is a teenager, an urchin, and, in this, hasn’t changed since the time of Dickens. Paris, I believe, is a man in his twenties in love with an older woman. – John Berger
The cities of the world are concentric, isomorphic, synchronic. Only one exists and you are always in the same one. It’s the effect of their permanent revolution, their intense circulation, their instantaneous magnetism. – Jean Baudrillard

Almost missed this one. Great photos for this them, Ailsa. The Big Apple one is the best, I think. I chose Tokyo as my featured city. http://forestwoodfolkart.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/travel-theme-cities/

Love your quirky Manhattan architecture shot, Ailsa – fantastic. And the yoga city…wow…finding zen surrounded by so many others must be tough! Here’s a slice of Singaporean city sights…
Grand is in the details!
Love it, Naomi, what a great city, and yaay to rum and coke and jamming with Haskell in Seattle! 🙂
Thanks, Ailsa! They’re coming to Seattle for another visit in October–crossing the country on the train. When I grow up in my 90s I want to be just like them.

I thought I had posted a comment and link to a post here, but the wordpress goblins seem to have stolen it, so here it is again: http://forestwoodfolkart.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/travel-theme-cities/
I think the photo from the Big Apple is the most interesting. Fabulous architecture.
I love Tokyo, Amanda, it’s such a metropolis but when you wander through all the little streets it has a surprisingly ‘village’ feel to all the little suburbs. xxx
Yes I agree Ailsa. And I do love the quirkiness and mix of neon and history in Japan. Such a surprise around every corner.
