After visiting Seattle’s Witness Trees, I started looking through my photographs for other wooden wonders I’ve spotted on my travels. First up, a giant mound of driftwood basking on the shores of Whidbey Island.
Then there’s the whimsical wooden floors in Seattle’s extraordinary central library; a fanciful homage to the printed word.
A rather beautiful wooden boardwalk in Nisqually Wildlife Reserve, stretching across acres of muddy wetlands.
These trees, painted with elemental fire and water signs, traced the way to Eternal Flame Falls in New York.
I fell in love with the little thatched, wooden jungle bungalow I stayed in on my visit to Tikal in northern Guatemala.
Now it’s over to your neck of the woods for your interpretation of this week’s theme. If you ‘wood’ like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Wood
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!
Touch wood you enjoy this week’s challenge!

The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach. – Henry Beston
Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. – Robert Frost

I kept my photos local so I don’t know if it’s a “travel” theme unless you all come here to visit, but I’m surrounded by woods, so what do you want? 🙂 http://beyondpaisley.net/2014/01/25/travel-theme-wood/
