Travel theme: Refreshing

Is it just me or do you too feel like winter has dragged on for far too long this year ? I’m getting a little stir crazy, cooped up indoors watching it rage and storm outside. This week I managed, in between shower bursts, to get in a refreshingly long walk along the beach which blew all the winter cobwebs away and got me in the mood for long days, mild weather and lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Those days may still be a little while off, but in the meantime, here are some more refreshing images to help keep the grey skies at bay. First up, refreshingly fizzy surf along the shores of Hawaii.

If you find yourself deep in the Cascade Mountains, miles from the ocean as the temperatures start to rise, you can always turn to ice cream to cool things down, like this cone of organic deliciousness from the delightful and flower-filled land of Cascadian Farm.

But sometimes it’s impossible to escape the clammy confines of city life, and in the dead heat of a New York summer, sometimes all you can do is sit and watch the dancing waters of the fountain at Lincoln Center.

Refreshment achieved. The rain has abated so I might seize the opportunity to take another bracing stroll along the beach, so it’s over to you for your interpretation of this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:

  • Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Refreshing
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.- John Ruskin

Summer is a great time to visit art museums, which offer the refreshing rinse of swimming pools – only instead of cool water, you immerse yourself in art.- Jerry Saltz
