Well, that week happened! And between ex-hurricane Ophelia and Storm Brian, I went and missed my weekly travel theme. So here, almost a week late for last week, or more optimistically, a day early for next week 🙂 is what has caught my imagination this time – how to capture windy weather in a photograph. There are things that harness the power of the wind, like this massive wind farm at Tehachapi Pass in California…
… and things that fly in the wind, like this kite high above Seattle’s Kite Hill…
…and these flags marking the spot where three countries meet at the Dreiländereck on the borders of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
There is the ocean’s response to wind, like these waves hitting the rocks at Coney Island…
…but my favourite windswept photo is one I captured the day after Ophelia made landfall here last week. After a day stuck indoors it was such a joy to get out for a stroll on the beach and fill our lungs with fresh air, even if the winds were still pretty intense.
