I spent the day dodging rain showers and decided to pay homage to the soggy weather with this week’s travel theme, starting off with a shot of a rainy day in the Cascades.
Rain-soaked lilacs in the Far Rockaways.
Raindrops decorating the foliage at Bloedel Reserve.
Raindrops ripple in pools of rainwater gathered in the manhole covers of Times Square.
Raindrops on the tiny plants repopulating the lava-scorched slopes of Mount St Helens.
A rainbow over Yellowstone.
Arches National Park during monsoon season.
So dust off your umbrella and show me your rainiest shots. If you would like to join in this week’s travel theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Rain
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Watch out for the next travel theme which will come out next weekend

Let it rain!
❤ Ailsa
The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and a good book. – Bill Watterson
The rain continued. It was a hard rain, a perpetual rain, a sweating and steaming rain; it was a mizzle, a downpour, a fountain, a whipping at the eyes, an undertow at the ankles; it was a rain to drown all rains and the memory of rains. – Ray Bradbury
