Well, seeing as last week’s theme was Words, I thought I’d balance things out with a more numerical theme this week, starting off with one of my favourite iconic road trips, the one and only Route 66.
Dublin’s renowned swimming spot, the Forty Foot, immortalised in James Joyce’s Ulysses, and the place where I welcomed in the New Year by taking a plunge in ice-cold water.
The most romantic of meeting spots, under the clock at Grand Central Terminal.
Farina Haus in Cologne, Germany, which has been producing the original Eau de Cologne since 1709.
I’m hoping I can “count” on you to share some of your own numerals for this week’s travel theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Numerals
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Watch out for the next travel theme which will come out next weekend
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

A book is an arrangement of twenty-six phonetic symbols, ten numerals, and about eight punctuation marks, and people can cast their eyes over these and envision the eruption of Mount Vesuvius or the Battle of Waterloo. – Kurt Vonnegut
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary numerals, and those who don’t. – Ian Stewart
