Travel theme: Modern

I attended a recreation of an ancient fire festival recently which I will be writing about shortly, but one of the things I loved about it was that, dotted around the ancient ceremonial site stood fantastically big modern sculptures of art. The juxtaposition of the ancient and the modern took my breath away.

One of my favourite entryways in all of Manhattan; it was modern in its day but even now still possesses an atmosphere of being terribly fashion forward. These aren’t doors to walk through; these are doors to waft through.

Sonic Bloom, the glowing, singing flower art installation in Seattle Centre, is modern art with a modern environmental message. It’s also a huge amount of fun.
