Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.
And I’m just getting started.
If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue. Remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

Ailsa, how do you make your header change with each post? I totally love it, and you always choose amazing attention-getting photos that seem to fit the horizontal format perfectly! Is it that your theme includes this feature?
Hey Trish, it’s a feature on some WordPress themes – 2010 and 2011 have it for sure – when you go to your ‘upload media’ section there’s a button called ‘featured’ image which you can select and then choose the image you want to be in your header. I love being able to customize the header. 🙂
Hi Ailsa…you sure do have a lovely blog here with great photographs…. really lovely,,…
Thanks Jeny, glad you enjoyed your visit! xxx Ailsa
Ah, sorry about the ice cream in Cornwall! Root cause is all the tourists that insist on feeding them which make them predatory. You learn to either not eat outside or to adopt a strange hunched position:)
Haha, hindsight is 20/20 vision – next time I go, I’ll be sure to be prepared! 🙂
You have a very nice travel blog. Great pictures!
Thanks Mike 🙂
We’ve nominated your blog for an award (or two, or three…), if you accept them. If not, just consider it a token of our esteem! 🙂 See our post at http://windagainstcurrent.com/2013/01/13/award-appreciation-we-thank-our-readers-for/
(Sorry about this form letter, Ailsa. Too many blogs to visit, too little time, as I am sure you know 😉 )
Oh I know what you mean, Vlad, I’m failing miserably at keeping up 🙂 Thanks for the shout out, gosh you’ve got a whole wardrobe of awards there! xxx
I have nominated you for the Reality Blog Award. Your blog has been an inspiration to me to stretch myself and communicate with the world at large. We see glimpses of ourselves in others and it has been my pleasure to follow your blog and gain insight into your world and mine.
If you choose to accept you are asked to answer 5 questions and nominate no more than 20 fellow bloggers (the total number of nominations is up to you). I realize the time commitment associated with this award and understand if it is something that you do not wish to do.
Here are the questions:
1) If you could change one thing, what would you change?
2) If you could repeat an age, what age would it be?
3) What one thing really scares you?
4) What is one dream you have not completed, and do you think you’ll be able to complete it?
5) If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be?
Thanks for taking time to like my post in the midst of all your adventures!
Thanks for the like on my blog Alisa. Travelling places opens the mind. Stepping outside your comfort zone is not always a bad thing. It’s also led me to publishing my first book out very soon. Keep up the good work.
Congrats on the new book, Danthonia, and thanks for the visit. Happy travels! xxx
Your blog is making me want to pack my bags and get out there! The next best thing to actually doing that is your blog! Thanks!
Thanks Trey – I hope you do decide to pack your bags and get out there (even just for a weekend!) 🙂
Aisla: I have enjoyed many of your posts and pictures – what fun. Glad to meet another who has been to Czesky Krumlov!
I’m sure I will enjoy your travels…I too love to travel but can’t say I’ve had your amazing experiences!
Ailsa – your blog is just stunning! It’s something I aspire for my blog to eventually become. Love love love it all xx

Thank you so much, Ally, I’m so happy you’re along for the adventure! I see you have two blogs going, that’s going to keep you busy. Food and travel make the perfect combination, that Austrian Raspberry Shortbread looks crazy good! I’m hungry now. 🙂
Congratulations! I love your blog and have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award.
However, there are rules and I won’t be offended if you don’t want to follow them. I just wanted to share your blog with others.
Ana (http://jubileejourney.wordpress.com)
I love your caption under the blog name
Ah yes, my romancing the planet tagline – I’m quite fond of that, it’s how I travel 🙂
So glad I stumbled upon your blog through the challenges you post. I, too, love traveling, although I haven’t had the wide variety of experiences you’ve had. And since I’m older, I’m trying to enjoy/appreciate the world around me, too! Will enjoy following your blog! http://ohtheplaceswesee.com
Hi Rusha, so glad you found my site, and I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying following my adventures. xxx Ailsa
Your well traveled blog is an inspiration… I just found your Best Road Trip Songs post and that took about an hour to fully appreciate and digest! (including all the great comments and additional suggestions). I am itching to head out on the highway for our next road trip but summer still seems pretty far away.
Hi Pamela, your comment just made me revisit that post and now I’m humming Route 66 and itching to get back on the road myself. 🙂
Hi Alisha. I love reading and viewing other people’s travel photos. Yours is very nice. I will be leaving to Southeast Asia in a couple of days for about a month. Hopefully, I can participate in your weekly themes when I get back.
Hi there, theprosaictraveller, I hope you have fun in Southeast Asia, what a great part of the world to be travelling to, I haven’t made it there yet. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back!
It’s a huge, expansive world and we are mere peons. Travel is so great for putting things in perspective!
I agree wholeheartedly, belladonic haze. xxx Ailsa
