Travel theme: Eyes

I couldn’t quite kick the feeling I was being watched as I walked along the coast the other day…

seal, ireland, wexford, travel, travelogue, ailsa prideaux-mooney

…and those soulful … and sealful … eyes provided me with the inspiration for this week’s theme. Here are some more eye-centric shots from my travels, starting off with these spooky eyes peering out of a window one Hallowe’en in New York.

Masks let your eyes do the talking, like this gorgeous mask worn on Wren Day in Dublin.

But when it comes to eyes that look right into your soul, these lemurs win my vote… and my heart.

I’ve seen a look in dogs’ eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts. – John Steinbeck

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

I have my eye on you… yes… I’m hiding on the beach… looking! I’m the seal… waiting for your smile! Sorry… don’t know where that came from… maybe my minds-eye went astray! 😉

Yikes, that Halloween image is disturbing, Ailsa! I shall have to see if I have any suitable eyes for the theme…..

The eyes on the building are particularly spooky, Ailsa. Wherever you go in Valparaiso, eyes stare at you from the countless murals! https://jaspasjourney.wordpress.com/2017/02/14/marlon-brando-in-valparaiso/

Marvellous eyes, Ailsa! Don’t we all love them? And when we look for a partner, maybe the eyes are the most important feature…I wonder if that goes for the animal kingdom as well?
