I was sitting here waiting for inspiration when it struck me that it might be interesting to examine what we find inspiring. For me, nature has always provided the most immediate inspiration…
…but I am also inspired by the written word, like these rare books and manuscripts at the Beinecke…
…and art, like this sculpture entitled ‘Burst of Joy’ in Philadelphia…
……and this stunning glass sculpture from the Scapes collection by Venetian siblings Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana.
So what inspires you? If the muses are smiling, perhaps you would like to create your own interpretation of this week’s theme. If you want to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Inspiration
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. – Jack London
Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask ‘how’, while others of a more curious nature will ask ‘why’. Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information. – Man Ray
I’m inspired by kindness.
That’s a great thing to be inspired by, Richard, good call. 🙂
Your challenges inspire me!! 😉
Oh AJ, you flatterer. ❤

Fabulous post, Sylvia, girl after my own heart 🙂 By the way, you put in the link to my page instead of your own post, so I’m just posting your link here to others can find it easily. xxx https://anotherday2paradise.wordpress.com/2015/11/27/travel-theme-inspiration/
Thanks so much, Ailsa. Silly me. 😳

I still haven’t made it there, so I loved your photo tour. 🙂 I’ve driven so close to the monument on several occasions only to get sidetracked at the last minute.
That can definitely happen, Ailsa! 😀

I can gaze into that sunset for hours, Ailsa. And you made that possible. Books, books, lots of books *dances*. Beautiful travel theme, dear.

This challenge was perfect for my new “photo a day blog” and I instantly knew which photo I wanted to use. As I have my posts scheduled a week or so ahead I just had to slot a sneaky extra in. I thought it justifably appropriate!

Great theme this week. It was fun looking through my photos with the intention of finding what inspires me to take them. I definitely could find more than one thing, but focused on the sky: http://stephgost.com/2015/11/28/travel-theme-inspiration/ . I really liked your picture of the books and manuscripts, it reminded me of the Central Library in Vancouver. I loved going there and spending a few hours walking around and deciding what to read next.
