It’s no secret I love the beach – although I actually prefer the rainy off-season when there are no tourists around and there’s less chance of sunburn! But this week I wanted to look at all places where water and land intersect, so that includes beaches like Kailua Bay in Hawaii …
…dramatic coastlines like the stunning Oregon Coast…
… legendary rivers like the Missouri …
… and the Mississippi …
… and great lakes set against hulking volcanoes like Reflection Lake by Mount Rainier …
… and Lake Atitlán surrounded by the triumvirate of Tolimán , Atitlán and San Pedro volcanoes.
Do you have a favourite spot where land meets water? If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Land meets Water
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday

I am an intelligent river which has reflected successfully all the banks before which it has flowed by meditating only on the images offered by those changing shores. – Victor Hugo
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core. – W.B. Yeates (The Lake Isle of Innisfree)

Ailsa esta semana llego con mi entrada un poco tarde, pero aquí está
Saludos.

Hi Ailsa, I’m just sneaking this in at the last minute. I love your images, particularly the salty spray.
