It’s no secret I love the beach – although I actually prefer the rainy off-season when there are no tourists around and there’s less chance of sunburn! But this week I wanted to look at all places where water and land intersect, so that includes beaches like Kailua Bay in Hawaii …
…dramatic coastlines like the stunning Oregon Coast…
… legendary rivers like the Missouri …
… and the Mississippi …
… and great lakes set against hulking volcanoes like Reflection Lake by Mount Rainier …
… and Lake Atitlán surrounded by the triumvirate of Tolimán , Atitlán and San Pedro volcanoes.

I am an intelligent river which has reflected successfully all the banks before which it has flowed by meditating only on the images offered by those changing shores. – Victor Hugo
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core. – W.B. Yeates (The Lake Isle of Innisfree)

Wow, Tim, that almost looks otherworldly. Stunning shot. Cornwall is breathtaking at the best of times, your photography does it justice. xxx
All wonderrful captures… 🙂
Incredible colour contrast!
Stunning, Ailsa! My post from Tuesday would have been perfect for this theme (https://jaspasjourney.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/the-ballestas-islands-perus-galapagos/). Now I’m going to have to come up with something else over the weekend!
Oh wow, you just gave me the worst dose of wanderlust! 🙂
Can you have a bad dose of wanderlust, Ailsa? 😉
Great selection Ailsa. I specially like Reflection Lake – stunning!

These are great. I grew up near the beach and now spend a lot of time on kayaks on lakes and rivers and bayous. So, these series of pictures really speak to my love of the water. I also love the Hugo quote. It has been a while since I’ve stopped by, please accept my apologies. I do love your posts.

I love the ocean and the beach. I have too many photos to count. Amazingly, they all look very different especially if taken in different vacation spots.
Thanks for hosting.
