This has been a tragic week. For the reasons my last post has mentioned, I choose to embrace laughter for this week’s travel theme. I hope you will join me. Here’s my favourite laughing donkey carved with a chainsaw near California’s Lost Coast.
The only sensible thing to do when you are handed an octopus is to laugh. You never know what’s going to happen next in Seattle’s Pike Place Market.
Colourful glee celebrating the Holi Festival.
What makes you laugh? If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Laughter
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!
I wish you all a year filled with laughter, compassion, kindness and joy.

Great theme! Against my better judgment, I posted pictures of me posing with tigers. The pictures are so goofy, they should be good for a laugh.

Oh Juliann, I have tears streaming down my face after reading this post, thank you thank you thank you for posting this. I nearly lost it when I saw that photo of you LAYING ON A TIGER. Whaaaaat? That was hilarious, and exactly what I needed today. xxx Ailsa

What adorable little stone figurines, Francesca, definitely chuckle-worthy – I can see why they might chase away demons! xxx Ailsa
Yes, laughter (even the one of a donkey 😉 !) could bring light to the moments that have dark shades about them… Beautiful photos, Ailsa.

What darling smiles, Ese, and those sand sculptures are fabulous! 🙂

Sometimes all you can do is laugh… http://windagainstcurrent.com/2015/01/09/laughter/
I want a go! How much fun is that? I just went back and looked at the original post, some of those cardboard kayaks look crazy hi-tech, that boat in the video with the teeth, wow! But my favourite shots were the ones of the boats breaking up and people getting dumped into the water. 🙂
Well, of course! 🙂
And the boat with the shark’s teeth won. It helps to have teeth!
This year’s race will be on July 18th, so if you happen to be in NYC then….
Haha, tempting. Reaches for cardboard box….
The cardboard is supplied, but you may want to practice beforehand…
Oh yeah! 🙂

I love it, that top photo is hysterical and hey, I bet there are a ton of things you can do better now than you could at 16. Jumping is so overrated. 😉

Browsing the Atlas just led me to your blog here. I didn’t know your theme of the week, but posted my own take on laughter and losing control last Friday. http://roughwighting.net/2015/01/09/losing-control-x-rated/. No traveling required, although lots of people seem to go to the movies to either laugh or cry their eyes out!
