As the witty wordsmith Oscar Wilde once said, I can resist everything but temptation. I have been failing miserably to resist the temptations Rome has to offer, indulging in decadent pizza…
… and luscious gelato.
There are many other things I find irresistible, like the call of the ocean on a hot summer’s day…
…building a snowman in the first snowfall of the year…
…the lure of the open road…
…and the promise of what lies hidden around the next corner.
I hope I can entice you to create your own interpretation of this week’s theme. If you are tempted to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Tempting
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS!
Don’t try to resist this week’s challenge. 😉

Yield to temptation. It may not pass your way again. – Robert A. Heinlein
I never resist temptation, because I have found that things that are bad for me do not tempt me. – Mark Twain
I would not be able to resist the temptation of pizza and gelato either. Do these tasty morsels taste better in the country of their origin?
Oh yes, that pizza sold by the yard is out of this world – I had the most amazing salad pizza one day which knocked my socks off. And the gelato, oh Colline, the gelato! )
I should visit just to taste it 🙂
The gelato in Rome is worth a trip to that beautiful and delicious city! AND you must eat it everyday you are there. Nothing like it!
I agree whole-heartedly, mithriluna – it is an unspoken rule that you MUST have gelato on a daily basis when in Rome. My favourite flavour so far has been cassata, all those little pieces of fruit, heaven! 🙂

Great post, its hard to resist pizza and gelato in Rome. I love to travel. Writing, traveling and photography are me hobbies and they all go handin hand….Rome, my favorite city.
It’s a pretty amazing city, that’s for sure, Sandra. xxx
Have to personally disagree about that first snow, particularly since my home has been a miserably frozen wasteland for the last 3 months. Still, the dog’s expression is great!
I took a different route, or rather, didn’t with hidden passages in Bagan ruins 🙂

Ah yes, when snow hangs around for too long it can get a little wearisome, that’s true. But the very first snowfall of the year always brings out my inner kid. Love your post, Ben, I wonder where that passageway led? xxx
Not sure myself, though the temple had at least 5 interior levels.
Is that your dog? Looks like he’s just relishing the snow. Mine last one used to just dive face first in as soon as she got outside.
Yes, that’s my best pal Major, he used to wake me up in the middle of the night when there was snow, because he was so excited to go out and play in it. 🙂
In case you haven’t seen it yet, Ben, do take a peek at Bailey, the unknown reindeer.
I am tempted… that I am!! 😉
I knew I could count on you, AJ 😉
Who Me? Tempted?
Yep… to do an exposé of a certain Ailsa!! 😉 Do tell when you’re next in Ireland… I feel I need to do an interview! 😛

I just love the picture of the dog blinking in the photo, isn’t that bombing? Here’s my snowy temptation!http://annarashbrook.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/travel-theme-tempting/
Ooh, what a beautiful part of the world you live in, Anna, those slopes do look tempting! The dog with the snowman was my very best friend for 14 years, his name was Major. He came with me on many adventures and taught me everything I know about joy and wonder. xxx 🙂

Witrian, long time no see, so great to hear from you again, I love your post and that you remembered the very first travel theme all that time ago. Your astral photography is amazing, I am an avid stargazer myself, but haven’t had much luck photographing the night sky. Beautiful photos. xxx Ailsa

All are beautiful and tempting but that gelato….mmmm….irresistable! 🙂
Here’ s what I came up with this week: http://esengasvoice.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/travel-theme-tempting/
For some reason my grandfather delighted in telling us that pizza was an American food that the Italians adopted. Thank you, Google for setting the record straight for me. I am finally able to reclaim my heritage. Enjoy your pizza and especially end your meal with gelato! Food of the (Italian) gods!
Oh I could dive into that gelato! I’m going to have to think about what I can tempt you with this week now…
Reblogged this on Locating Frankenstein's Brain.
it is not surprising to read that pizza and gelato are so delicious in the country that they come from. I love the image of that beautiful dog with the snowman…he looks so ‘in the moment’.
