On the way back to Seattle from a recent camping trip, my friend Sylvia and I encountered a massive traffic jam coming over Snoqualmie Pass. As the heat index rose, people abandoned their vehicles and a group of children up ahead of us started a game of football. Watching them play in the hazy heat against a line of silvery trucks, I couldn’t resist taking a photo. The guy camped out on the side of the road in his chair makes me giggle too; he came prepared for traffic.
Here are a few variations on the theme of play that I found looking through my travel photos. How about bagpipers piping up a storm in Edinburgh…
…or a glass of wine after playing the slots in Vegas…
…playing dress up on Hallowe’en in New York…
…and playing with fire on Bonfire Night at Golden Gardens in Seattle.
Now it’s your turn to play with your own interpretation of this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Play
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS – I’m in the process of changing over to a new website host but will give you all a heads up when the changeover happens. If you’re following via email there won’t be a change but if you’re following via WordPress you will need to sign up for email or RSS.
Can’t wait to see your take of this week’s challenge. Play ball!
