Brr! It’s frosty outside and I’m breaking out my thermal socks. It is definitely time to turn up the heat, so here are a few sizzling shots that I picked out in the heat of the moment.
First up, the sun-baked hills of southern California, glowing gold on a scorching summer evening.
Next, a fiery sun turns everything red-hot in the sweltering humidity of a New York summer.
Finally, quite possibly the hottest place I’ve visited to date; the Mohave Desert in the height of summer.
If you’re hot to trot, and you would like to join in this week’s travel theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Hot
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes
Can you handle the heat?
xxx

Oh wow, your second picture is a gorgious one, Ailsa!
First time I saw the sun pretending to be a trafficlight
or was she just playing hide and seek ? 😉
Here is my contribution for this weeks theme :
http://dauwpics.blogspot.be/2012/12/red.html
A picture of a “hot” acer palmatum (just before dropping its leaves), accompanied by a “burning” poem that I tried to translate to English for those who don’t read Dutch.
Hope you all enjoy

Gorgeous image, Dauw, and red hot poem too! 🙂
Thanks Ailsa. Glad you enjoyed them both.

Oh boy, Julie, I would love to visit Zanzibar, it’s way up on my must-do list. I bet it was amazing. The sulphur formations are spectacular, brilliant shot! xxx
Thanks, Ailsa. Zanzibar is fantastic. If you like music festivals, try and go in February and get to Sauti Za Busara but any time of year is worth going. I was lucky enough to live in Tanzania for a couple of years so I got to visit several times.
Oh how wonderful, were you close by the Serengeti? Always wanted to go there. Gosh, so many places, so little time!
I wasn’t based there but I did get to go on safari in the Serengeti, and several other game parks. If you want any tips before you plan your trip, just give me a shout. I’m more than happy to relive happy travel memories.

Here is my only entry for this week’s challenge:
Wow, that looks scary, so glad it was only for training purposes!
Yeah, me too! At first, I had no idea…but then I saw the huge crowd of fireman surrounding the other side of the house and all the fire trucks. I guess they have to learn at some point and a live fire is the best way.
