Brr! It’s frosty outside and I’m breaking out my thermal socks. It is definitely time to turn up the heat, so here are a few sizzling shots that I picked out in the heat of the moment.
First up, the sun-baked hills of southern California, glowing gold on a scorching summer evening.
Next, a fiery sun turns everything red-hot in the sweltering humidity of a New York summer.
Finally, quite possibly the hottest place I’ve visited to date; the Mohave Desert in the height of summer.
If you’re hot to trot, and you would like to join in this week’s travel theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Hot
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes
Can you handle the heat?

Now those are some fiery cars, love it Cee!
This looks hot to me:
Love it, mostlymonochrome. First off, it’s a great shot. Second, the WP snow floating across the photo really made me laugh, seeing as the title is The English Riviera. 🙂

I don’t allow myself to start counting the days for my winter vacation until the first of December — so it’s a good thing that I didn’t have time to look at this yesterday because this theme certainly means: HOT (or at least warm) weather and that means the beach. http://wp.me/p1tzBV-1QN Looking forward to seeing how others have interpreted this theme. If I didn’t have vacation on my mind, I might have done something very different! http://wp.me/p1tzBV-1QN
Lovely photo, Anne, I’m feeling warmer already!

Very cool shots, Ailsa! Here is my entry: http://shareandconnect.wordpress.com/2012/12/01/travel-theme-hot-2/
Awesome shots of Arches, Amy. I was just there and it couldn’t have been more different – cold, rainy and foggy. I’m going to be writing about it shortly, you’ll get a laugh when you see the photos I took, it looks like another part of the planet altogether!
Hey Ailsa, perhaps we can combine your cold with my “blazing inferno hot” and come up with the perfect climate !!?? haha
I have been a bit quiet in the blog world lately, but here is my contribution to your weekly Travel theme 🙂
http://emmahicks76.wordpress.com/2012/12/02/weekly-travel-theme-hot/
Hi Emma, those are some blisteringly hot photos, the one of you camping in a dust storm is my favourite!
Seriously, who camps in the middle of a dust storm ?
Can tick that one off the list of things that I have done ( not that it was ever intentionally on there haha ) 🙂
Hello. Sorry it’s been a while. I hope these are okay. I’m actually enduring a heat wave at the moment and found it hard to capture “hot”. It’s way too warm outside to take photos sorry. lol. anyway, here is my offering.
Welcome back Jillian. Those poor birds look awfully sweaty, and that last photo screams hot! 🙂
Thank you. 🙂

Hi Ailsa! Living in the middle east has become a normal life for us to live in a place with scorching HOT weather esp in the summer months. Well, here’s my entry for this week.

That looks like one incredible adventure, riah_e – that first photo is breathtakingly beautiful!
exactly! especially when you get to stay in a desert camp just for one night and experience the hospitality of the bedouins and the evening affairs offered by this kind of tourism in Oman.

Hot indeed Ailsa! Don;t you wish you were travelling in Asia with all this heat in here 😉 Here’s mine: http://seamlessstyle.wordpress.com/2012/12/02/weekly-travel-theme-hot/

Thanks Fles 🙂
Here is my Turkish version of “Hot”:
Lovely shots, Lonna, that last photo is my favourite!
Here is some hot!
Wonderfully hot colours, Pat!
Those shots look kinda funny to me with 3 days of rain in SoCal. ;o)
Wanted to participate, but couldn’t find any good desert shots. The closest I could find was a shot of one of my fave musicians, Meiko, in concert, on a day when it was 107 degrees in Pasadena, but you can’t really SEE the hot in the shot; woulda helped if she was visibly sweating. . . ;o)
How inconsiderate of her not to sweat 😉

I admire your constancy, Ailsa, in coming up with themes each week. The red New York sky and traffic lights is my favourite in your post. This theme, ‘hot’, was a challenge. Difficult to say, sometimes, from an image whether it’s hot weather or not. But my father’s drawing of the desert and its blazing sun left no doubt. Hope you like it.
Fabulous photo, Trish, and that drawing is wonderful, and definitely oh so hot!

Ooh, those blues are gorgeous, I can almost feel the warm water lapping over my feet. Delicious!
Here are two of the hottest places that I have visited, the Australian Outback and Death Valley.
We skipped Death Valley because it was the height of summer, but driving through the Mojave we got out at a rest stop and I nearly evaporated. Oh my God!
