It’s getting cold around here and I’m staying warm with a soft fleece jacket and soft fluffy socks. All this softness got me looking through my photos to find images that fitted the theme. Here’s what I came up with:
A cheeky red cardinal in New York’s Central Park
The softly-coloured stained glass windows of the Actor’s Chapel in Manhattan
A mound of shea butter waiting to be sold by the scoop at a street market
Delicate grasses around Snug Harbor on Staten Island
A bunny in Alley Pond Park, Queens. It doesn’t get much softer than this!
So what does soft mean to you? If you’d like to join in this week’s travel theme (everyone is welcome to join in), here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel Theme: Soft
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes
Show me your soft side!

Have a great weekend!
Great soft choices, Ailsa – that lump of shea butter is, um, impressive, the reeds are gorgeous, and the bunny, well… what can I say, it’s irresistible? One of these days, I’ll take up your Photo Challenge!

I’m back in the right week now (for some reason I posted about Sunsets first which was your August 17th theme!) I love the photo of the red Cardinal bird, we saw one in The Gambia and we asked our guide what he was called. Our guide gave us the name in Gambian, so we asked what that meant in English & he said “Red Bird” He wasn’t far wrong 🙂

i love those baskets in the shea butter photo!
here’s one more example of ‘soft’ for this week’s challenge. it feels good to be back! Z
The cardinal takes my breath away. We have a pair that visit us here but they are so elusive. I can only take foggy photos of them from the windows.
Here is my take on the travel theme “soft.” Both photos are from our trip to Tasmania a few years ago.
Hi, Can you tell me how to create a link to your page on my post please? I’m new at this.

Ailsa, I love your “cheeky” red bird and the long grasses at Staten Island. I am always drawn to ornamental grasses for some reason. Great challenge, as always. Here’s mine for this time: http://catbirdinafrica.wordpress.com/2012/11/10/travel-theme-soft/
