Travel theme: Feet

This week’s theme is brought to you by the ladder I dropped on my foot earlier today. I was wearing flip-flops; it wasn’t pretty. Still, I am grateful for the inspiration, however painful. I was surprised to find quite a few foot photos when I went rummaging through my travel shots, like this one with my friend Jo on a precarious rope bridge over Lava Canyon on the slopes of Mount St Helens.

Ahh, my trusty old jungle boots, dangling off the edge of the highest temple pyramid in Tikal, watching dawn break over the jungle.

My jungle boots, covered in jungle mud, over the jungle!

Wedding feet in the grounds of the Iolani Palace on Oahu. The bride (my sister-in-law) rocked those red converse – best wedding outfit ever.

Mud never looked so good – bringing sexy back to sheep shearing with bright pink wellies at the world renowned Sheep Olympics in Gorey, Ireland.

Footloose and fancy free, clambering over red rocks in flip-flops on a foggy, rainy, monsoon day in Arches National Park, Utah.

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

Tut tut!! Did you not know DIY was unbecoming of a young lady??? I wish you a speedy recovery… both foot and ego!! 😉

Bloody flip flops, or thongs as we call them. I caused a four car pile up because I was wearing them. It also had a little bit to do with me not watching the road; minor detail. When I refocussed, I only had time to slam on the brakes from mid air and got the clutch instead.

Yikes, Mick, that doesn’t sound like fun. I must admit to driving in flip flops but after your story I may have to reconsider…

      • mickscogs says:

Haven’t driven in thongs since 1978 (No not a thong 🙂 ). I can’t even wear them now due to the need for orthotics. Look after your feet. They are so precious.

Hope the damaged toe is ok now Ailsa. Love your variety of footwear. You would have to be super careful in those flip flops on the rocks. These are my favourite shoes that I live in when travelling.

  9. Owee! Sorry about your foot and hope your toe feels better soon. I’ve finally got hubby out of the habit of working in flip flops. Very dangerous. Unfortunately he was still wearing shorts for doing the renovations, until he badly gouged his shin almost to the bone. Now he wears jeans. After the horse has bolted……..;) Love your foot pics. I’ll see what I can find.

Ouch! I feel your pain. I have only just got my bog toe nail back to normal after 15 months when I stubbed it on a wooden bed. And last week I sprained my ankle which has been swollen on and off all week 😦 Feet are sooo precious! I can imagine what came out of your mouth when you dropped the ladder, probably the same as came out of mine when I turned my ankle! Fortunately there was no-one around to hear me! I think I may have to start wearing Doc Martens!!!
Stay safe and rest that toe!
