Travel theme: Deep

I was sitting here deep in thought trying to come up with a theme for this week when inspiration struck. Seattle is home to one of the world’s deepest natural harbours; Elliot Bay, which reaches depths of over 600 feet in places.

Then there’s the startlingly deep green of Yellowstone‘s aptly named Emerald Pool.

The first light of day, deep in the forest, deep in the heart of Washington’s cougar country.

And a girl shoulder-deep in tulips at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

Now it’s your turn to dig deep and post your own interpretation of this week’s theme. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:

  • Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Deep
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
  • Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS – I’m in the process of changing over to a new website host but will give you all a heads up when the changeover happens. If you’re following via email there won’t be a change but if you’re following via WordPress you will need to sign up for email or RSS.

So take a deep breath and jump in at the deep end!

About ailsapm

Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

Oh, Ese, the memory of those fields of tulips will stay with me forever, they were gorgeous. Beautiful post, your first photo makes me want to hop a flight to Nessebar right now. And you included one of my favourite quotes – I very nearly used that quote myself! xxx Ailsa

I would say – go for it! Or…come for it – in this case! 🙂
Yes, when I saw the quote, had the feeling the Travel Theme challenge was the one to use it for.

    Hey Ailsa,

As colors have a hold on me, the photograph of the deep green Emerald Pool and the contrasting red of the tulip Valley both captivated me for some time.
I think you came up with a great challenge again.
“Deep” can be looked at from many different angles.
Couldn’t help it, but to me some philosophical thoughts popped up on this theme …
