One thing you’re guaranteed to have no matter where you are in the world is weather. Good or bad, it will always give you something to talk about, complain about and photograph. So here are a few weather-centric travel shots I’ve taken in the past, starting off with the ever-romantic Central Park adorned with a dusting of snow.
Staying in New York, with the mercury rising, a scorching hot sun goes down over Gotham.
Rain-splattered foliage at the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island.
Windswept beach at Coney Island. That sand was moving so fast it hurt when it hit you.
The daily Xocomil windstorm starting to kick off over Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
I wonder whether you would like to your own version of this theme? If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome to join in!) here’s what to do:
- Create your own post and title it Travel theme: Weather
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Get your post in by next Thursday, as the new travel theme comes out on Friday (unless, of course, I get locked out again!)
- Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date on the latest weekly travel themes. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

We may achieve climate, but weather is thrust upon us. – O. Henry
