People’s Procession of Light

‘Tis the season for festivals. After celebrating the festival of Wren Day last week, I was in a party mood so I popped in to Dublin’s city centre tonight to watch the People’s Procession of Light. This is New Year’s Eve Dublin-style, complete with fire dancers, aerialists and torch-wielding citizens creating a river of light through city streets.

Here are a few images I captured at the procession.

In the words of the great Neil Gaiman:

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

Happy New Year, everyone!
