I’ve been trying to keep up with the backyard’s berry harvest…
…and figured if I’m going to the trouble to preserve these little jewels, I might as well come up with some interesting flavour combinations that you cannot find in the stores. Some of the tastiest combos I’ve dabbled with include raspberry rosewater, blackcurrant espresso and lemon blackcurrant rhubarb – I’ve still got a pile of blackcurrants so if anyone has any favourite blackcurrant recipes, do send them my way.
Inspired by my culinary adventures I went ruffling through my photos for some flavoursome moments on my travels, starting with street market spices in Manhattan.
The flavour that reminds me of travels in Turkey, rich, dark pomegranate.
Sauces that pack a flavour punch Montana Redneck style. Spotted on a road trip across, yhup, you guessed it, Montana.
Umpqua Black Licorice ice cream in Leavenworth, Washington’s Bavaria away from home. The ice cream that’s as fun to say (repeat after me, Umpqua) as it is to eat. But beware, you will walk around for the rest of the day with strangely grey-green lips and teeth. Not for the faint-hearted.
