I’ve been road-tripping at the height of monsoon season and have weathered quite a few storms along the way. But one of the advantages of storms is the possibility of a rainbow when the sun finally breaks through. I’ve experienced more than my fair share of rainbows on this trip; here’s one over some wild west terrain in Utah.
And another over Yellowstone National Park.
Sticking with the multicoloured theme, check out the spray-painted motors at the Cadillac Ranch in Texas.
Here are some cheery looking motels along Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas.
And finally, a multicoloured and rather spooky-looking landscape at Mammoth Hot Springs in Wyoming.

How sad to see that Cadillac Ranch is now Cadillac Graffiti Ranch. I first went there in 1975, a few months after it was created. It was the talk of Texas because the Cadillacs for the most part were running cars. It was strange, to say the least, to take perfectly good Cadillacs and stick them in the ground. Now that they all are covered with graffiti, the beauty of the Cadillacs is destroyed.
