After winding a path through the blue trees of Seattle earlier this week, I started thinking about other paths I have travelled down; here are a few of my favourites. First, a moss-flanked pathway into thick forest at the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island.

“If the path be beautiful, let us not ask where it leads.” – Anatole France
Next, a sandy trail through Angel Canyon in the heart of Utah.

“When the path ignites a soul, there’s no remaining in place.” – Hakim Sanai
Finally, a dark and mysterious path through an unexpected bamboo forest in Rye, New York.

“A path is a prior interpretation of the best way to traverse a landscape.” – Rebecca Solnit
This is where our paths cross because now it’s your turn. If you would like to join in (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:

About ailsapm
Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.
And I’m just getting started.
If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.
Hi Ailsa! Here’s my entry for this week.http://momentsinyourlife.wordpress.com/2013/05/27/travel-theme-pathways/

Hi Ailsa …. I’ve walked and photographed so many pathways in the last month travelling it’s hard to pick just one. This is perhaps my favourite.

G’day Ailsa travelling back in time today, watch those teeth….
Top picture, least favorite, paths aren’t paved. They technically become sidewalks I think.
the bottom pic is my favorite.
Ah, it’s not actually paved, it’s gravel strewn on dirt (so still a path!) but I can see how it might look like tarmac in the photo. You’re right, a path is unpaved! xxx

Love this topic and your photos make me homesick! I am going to be in Seattle to visit family in August… just a few days in Seattle, Lacey and ?
Ooh, I love question marks in an itinerary, they make for an awful lot of fun! 😉

Wow wow wow–LOVE your pictures on this one!!

Yaay, thanks Jan! xxx
oh I just love this theme! Hard choices had to made though! Here’s my post 🙂
Lovely photos as always Ailsa.
I don’t have a pathway, but I do have a formal complaint. I have flown all the way from winter in the Southern hemisphere to your “lovely” city of Seattle to find myself subjected to cold and rain. I know you run this place so please rectify the weather as soon as possible! 🙂
I will be at the Coastal Kitchen tonight – I will be the one at the bar with a broad New Zealand accent. A free drink if you spot me!
Oh no, you’ve arrived during that one week when it rains in Seattle 😉 The rest of the year the sun splits the stones, Pat, it’s practically desert! How long are you in town for? I saw your message a little too late to pop along to the Coastal Kitchen to raise a glass with you. xxx
My first trip to Seattle I arrived in a snowstorm – but at least it was winter then!
I am here the whole week and I will make it back to The Coastal Kitchen – if you are able to “pop along” you could still get a free drink. (I was wondering how many people would approach me last night claiming to be you to get a free drink! – but there were none – lol)
Haha that would have been too funny 🙂 Could have worked out expensive for you!
