Halfway through my roadtrip across the US, I stayed with a friend’s family on a farm in Wisconsin. It was the coolest coincidence in the world for an Irish girl from Dublin to find herself staying in the little town of Erin on Dublin Road bang smack in the middle of America. I had to get a photo of this sign:
Then there were the signs along the highway in North Dakota, that provided some welcome comic relief from the everlasting flatness of the landscape.
But my favourite sign of recent days was the mystical sign painted on trees along a trail that led to a very strange and very lovely waterfall in upstate New York.
So this week’s travel theme is signs. They come in all shapes and sizes and I would love to see your interpretation of the theme. If you would like to join in, create your own post with the title Travel theme: Signs and put a link to this page in your post so others can find it. And check back in next Friday for a new travel theme.
Give me a sign!
xxx Ailsa

Hi Ailsa, Here is mine http://shareandconnect.wordpress.com/2012/08/13/weekly-travel-theme-signs/
Your post is very inspiring for the signs theme, as always. Happy travel!
Good one, Amy, the intricate design of that German beer sign is quite breathtaking, isn’t it? Imagine the amount of work that must have gone into it!

Hey, Ailsa!!! Love this post! I hope to join in this week! In any case! I’ll be in NYC in September and wanted to see if you wanted to meet up in the City! Email me zullyrosado@gmail.com.
I’m on the west coast right now, Zully, but I just popped you an email to see if we can meet up somewhere along the way! That would be so much fun. xxx

Hi Ruth, my trip, which is still in progress, has been wonderful. Liked your impossible to pronounce sign!
Love this one – although we’ve been gone to a wedding and I didn’t see it until today. Now I gotta get with the program here and find some of my favorite signs. I can’t wait to see what the theme will be while we’re on vacation!! 🙂
Yaay, have a great vacation, LubbyGirl. xxx Ailsa

This is a gorgeous photo, even aside from the theme!

Very late to the game, but here is my offering for the week. http://ididitforjohnny.wordpress.com/2012/08/16/travel-theme-signs/
Loved it, ididitforjohnny, Chagrin Boulevard is priceless and I have got to visit Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area.
I’m not sure the Silos and Smokestacks would be very entertaining, but it’s definitely worth checking out, just in case. And so you could tell everyone you were there.
I posted this morning – and already have a few comments about my Chinglish signs! Thanks for the inspiration again. http://zhongguojumble.wordpress.com/2012/08/16/travel-theme-signs/
I had a good laugh at these, gkm2011, the killer littering one is my favourite, closely followed by ‘beware of your head’. Really fun post! 🙂
