It recently rained in New York for the first time in ages, and offered up some wonderful opportunities to capture reflections in the pools of rainwater. Here are a few rainy day reflections of New York modes of transport.

Reflections – bike taxi driver in Times Square

Reflections – New York yellow cab

Reflections – New York bus, and another photographer with the same idea as me, facing off at the other end of the puddle!
As there has been no weekly photo challenge this week, I’d love to offer this up as a theme for anyone wanting to join in. Just title your post ‘Reflections’, tag it with ‘postaday’ and add a pingback to this page in your post. I’ll publish any pingbacks I get into the comments stream so anyone else who participates can find your entry too. I’d love to see your interpretations. Pass it on!
Here’s my Reflections post from my nature blog.
About ailsapm
Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.
And I’m just getting started.
If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.
Outstanding. Love that last one. Great job
Thanks phil, I’m really happy with how they turned out, funky, loud and fun, just like New York 🙂

Here’s another “reflection” photo. http://miskcooks.com/2012/05/16/weekly-photo-challenge-reflections-2/
Love the yellow cab. I haven’t heard those words in a long, long time. They don’t have very many cabs in Florida. Well, my little town. Thanks for the challenge. It was inetresting. I gave it my own twist. A look or reflection into the assessment of Good-Bye.
Namaste,

Here’s my contribution to the challenge. 😀

Very cool! I’ve been enjoying everyone’s photos, and am looking forward to returning to view some more. Inspired me to pore through my own photo archives to dig up some pics to “meet the challenge”, and post them on my blog. Thanks!
Oh Pamela, these are a wonderful set of reflections – those hearts and hands reflected are unique and creative and utterly lovely. Welcome to the photo challenge! xxx Ailsa

Hi Ailsa … I’m back from my travels, and here’s my take on your cool photo challenge. Are you thinking of making this a weekly event?
your shots are amazing, btw!!!
Thanks :))) Lots of fun splashing about in New York puddles 🙂
I’m thinking I might, Stephen, I can’t believe how popular the last one was. It was so much fun! I’ll be sure to let you know when I get something worked out. Lovely shot of Philly! xoxo Ailsa
Hey Ailsa, my very simple interpretation of reflections. Thanks for inviting me. 🙂

Is it too late to add my contribution to the challenge?
Not sure I did the ping back thing right though… Enjoyed your New York shots!

Great shots of the rice fields, Joe, love them. Here’s how to do the pingback – you copy the link for the challenge page, so for this one, it’s https://wheresmybackpack.com/2012/05/12/reflections/ and put that into your post. It automatically causes a ‘pingback’ to be generated in the comments stream of the challenge page so others can find your entry. Are you going to join in the new summer challenge? I’d love to see your entry. 🙂 Ailsa

Great idea and was inspired by your topic Reflections .. I sort of took a different spin on it and it surely isn’t as majestic as some of my favorites here but they are photos I like.. I hope you enjoy..and looking forward to the next challenge..
I enjoyed your post, rfl, especially the wine glass shot!
OK. one more comment.. I’m new to this blogging and I don’t understand how to make the pictures larger. I have tried everything and they are still pretty small.
when you’ve uploaded your photo, look underneath it, there should be an area where you can choose whether you want it to show as thumbnail (small) medium or full size. xxx Ailsa
Yeah thanks. I did change it to large but on my actual screen it shows the same size. I guess when you click it it goes to a different page and is larger but this doesn’t help the slideshow. I was also told by a friend it depends on the theme you are using. I just don’t feel ready to change themes.. thanks for the tip.
Have you tried deleting the slideshow, then reinserting it in the post after resizing? Might be worth a try!
Excellent work my friend ,Thanks for sharing your archieves 🙂
