I’ve been doing a little bit of decorating this week and am currently paint-splattered and taking a break, so here are a few paint-themed photos from past travels. First up, a glamorous mural adorns the derelict interior of an abandoned casino on the Asbury Park boardwalk in New Jersey.
Some more murals; this one is part of the Mural Mile in Philadelphia…
…and these fabulous murals of Bogie and Bergman create the perfect frame for an outdoor movie screen in Seattle’s Fremont neighbourhood.
Then there was the faded paint-peeling glory of Coney Island …
..and last, but certainly not least, the adorable Donkey from Shrek, carved with a chainsaw and painted to perfection, on the way to California’s Lost Coast.
Have you got your paintbrush (or your camera) at the ready? If you would like to join in and create your own interpretation of this week’s theme (everyone’s welcome!) here’s what to do:

[…] Ailsa’s weekly travel theme this week is Paint. You don’t realize how much you see paint everywhere. Buildings freshly painted or old with the paint peeling off, graffitti, signs, works of art of all types, face paint, makeup, murals, frescos. One of the most famous works of art using paint is the Sistine Chapel with the ceiling and front wall covered in paintings. Many churches, castles, palaces and other large buildings have painted ceilings, too. Some may consider graffiti as art and in many cases it is where the creator turned it into a wall mural rather than just defacing something with scrawls and words. […]
